The HSF is a commission of the City of Golden Valley.  It plans and holds fundraisers and events to help raise money to meet previously identified human service needs in the community.  Since the HSF’s inception, $1,293,520 has been allocated to agencies.   Its 12-member board advises the City Council on the allocation of funds.  The HSF meets 6:45 pm on the 2nd Monday of each month at Brookview Community Center.  It’s published goals are to:

  • Identify the community’s needs for human services
  • Determine strategies to provide funding through:
    • Charitable gambling proceeds
    • Fundraisers
    • Or, community events
  • Develop guidelines to evaluate funding requests, and
  • Allocate funds to human service organizations that meet those needs
